Can you help a family into a home of their own this Christmas?
This Christmas 145,000 in the UK will be homeless. Living in cramped, temporary accommodation, forced to share kitchens and bathrooms with total strangers.
Families like Laura and her two children, who faced eviction at Christmas last year. They were placed in unsuitable temporary accommodation, sometimes for as little as just three weeks – never knowing when it would be time to pack up again and move on.
With Shelter’s support and advice, Laura and her family now live in a three-bedroom rented home and will be able to put up Christmas decorations this year.
Unfortunately, Laura’s story isn’t unique. As rents and mortgages rates rise, wages stagnate and people feel the effects of the cost-of-living crisis, more and more families are being made homeless and are forced into temporary accommodation.
Our partnership with Shelter
For more than two decades, we’ve been working together to provide much needed support to those like Laura who are without safe, secure and affordable homes.
During this time our customers, brokers and colleagues have:
- donated more than £8 million.
- helped more than 145,000 people facing the housing emergency.
- supported Shelter’s helplines, for those facing homelessness.
- worked together on policy and campaigns that makes a difference to people in housing need.
Everyone deserves a place fit to call home. A donation to Shelter, no matter how big or small, could help a family like Laura’s into a home of their own.
